Check-list to become a --------------> TEACHER

1.)Go to the Certification Office(find out who is your advisor.)
 
2.) Meet with your advisor (get a signed certification plan.)
 
3.) Apply to the Teacher Certification Program, (after your last core course is
complete.)
 
4.) Take the Pedagogy and Professional Responsibilities (PPR) practice exam (BEFORE you take any methods courses.)
 
5.) Sign up for the actual PPR TExES exam during your methods courses (if your practice score is 76 or above, or take EDUC 4201 if your score is below 75.)
 
6) Complete your methods courses
 
7.)Take the practice exam for your Content area TExES (during your methods courses.)
 
8.) Attend a Student Teacher Round up meeting
 
9.) Pass the Content TExES exam (BEFORE you student teach.)
 
10.) Complete your student teaching application & student teach.
Refer to your certification plan and visit with your advisor for detailed explanations. The Certification Office is also a great resource for you.
