Noyce Scholars

Project Director:  Dr. Roy Hurst

The Noyce Scholars program supports the training of new math and science teachers.  Candidates are provided with financial support and mentoring for up to two years of preparation, as well as continuing support during the first year of teaching.

Project SAGE

In September 2008 UTPB was awarded a five year grant through the United States Department of Education. The funds from this grant will be used to restructure and improve the special education teacher preparation program.  The new program will be designed to provide dual certification in academic content areas and will involve a collaborative effort of the School of Education and Arts and Sciences faculty. 

 

Project SHARE

Supporting Highly-qualified And Responsive Educators
Project Director: Dr. Karen Smith


In October 2005, UTPB was awarded a four year grant by the United States Department of Education to prepare highly qualified teachers to work with students with disabilities in linguistically and diverse settings. Students who participate in the program receive financial support and experience an intensive preparation program in teacher education resulting in licensure in Special Education and supplemental licensure in English as a Second Language. West Texas Principal Center

Project Director: Anita Absher

In September 2005, UTPB was awarded a three year grant from the United States Department of Education to create the West Texas Principal Center. The WTPC is set up to serve two groups of professional educators: teachers or ISD personnel who are seeking principal certification, and current principals and assistant principals within the Permian Basin. Participants in the WTPC receive a variety of services ranging from financial support for tuition to access to special seminars, conferences, and professional growth activities.
